About Dog Training

I believe there are no "bad" dogs - only "bad" or undesirable behaviors. Our dogs are very important members of our family. We must remember, though, that they are dogs - living in a human world.

Dogs think, communicate, and behave differently. It is most often poor communication between dogs and humans that leads to behavior problems. It is our responsibility to teach our dogs the behaviors that we find appropriate. Through training, I work with you to improve your communication and build on the natural relationship you have with your dog.

It is also important to understand that dog behavior and wolf behavior are different. The theories of "Alpha Wolf," dominance, and the relationship to dog behavior have been widely discredited through decades of research. The APDT has more information about dominance and dog training. My goal is to teach you and your dog - in a positive and enjoyable way - how to be more sociable and lovable with each other. You will then be living with an Able Dog.
